Pakistan Marine Academy is now accepting applications for the Nautical and Engineering Cadet Course for 2024. If you’re interested in joining the maritime industry or merchant navy, you can apply for these cadet courses either on open merit or through self-finance. The deadline for submitting applications is September 6, 2024. Additionally, there are 33 fully-funded scholarships available for deserving students. These scholarships can help you start a career in the Merchant Navy without any costs.
Pakistan Navy Jobs Application Process
You can get the application forms from the PMA admission office or download them from the Marine Academy’s website. A processing fee of PKR 3500/- must be paid by bank draft or pay order. If you are applying for a self-finance seat, you need to submit a bank draft or pay order of PKR 300,000/-.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an unmarried male Pakistani citizen.
- Maximum age of 20 years on December 31, 2024.
- Maximum age of 21 years for candidates from FATA/GB/AJK/Balochistan.
- Must have FSc Pre-engineering or an equivalent qualification with at least 55% marks.
- Candidates waiting for results can apply with a Hope certificate.
Training and Certification
Candidates will undergo 2 years of training at the academy and will receive an associate degree in Ship Management and Marine Engineering from NED UET Karachi upon successful completion. They will also receive Pre-SEA course certifications from the IMO.

Submit your application form along with a pay order or bank draft of PKR 2500/- in favor of Pakistan Marine Academy, Karachi (National Bank of Pakistan, PMA Branch Code-0239). If you are applying under the Self-Finance Scheme (SFS), include an additional pay order or bank draft of PKR 300,000/-. If selected on open merit, the SFS fee will be refunded.
Selection Procedure
Entrance tests will be held in Abbottabad, Gwadar, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Muzaffarabad (A.IK), Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, and Sukkur. These tests will be conducted by hired Testing Services.
A minimum score of 45% is required to pass the entrance test. Shortlisted candidates will undergo a medical examination at designated Army, Navy, or PAF hospitals. Final selection will be based on merit, which includes a final interview and Physical Efficiency Test (PET) at PMA.
PET Standards
- Running: 1 mile (1.6 km) in 8:30 minutes
- Push-ups: 10 repetitions in 2 minutes
- Sit-ups: 10 repetitions in 2 minutes
- Chin-ups: 2 repetitions in 2 minutes
